'Puddluv Drop7'
Adriele Au

'Colour Study 50'
Paul Gravett

Our world is full of colour & colour is full of diverse meanings & interpretations. We associate certain colours with certain moods or ideas. The artwork in Chromatic Connections invites us to enjoy dazzling riots of colour & dynamic monotone studies, all while interpreting what each tone & shade means to the artist & to us.

Adriele Au is a multidisciplinary artist whose work is a hybrid of painting, drawing & sculpture using mixed media & repurposed objects which address the themes of emotions, home, time & nostalgia.  Reflecting the value of connection with community, family & friends, her Puddluv series references play & celebration. Au’s works, made from party streamers & birchwood panels, utilize colour to evoke welcoming, cheerful emotions & to illustrate diversity in all walks of life. The synergistic meanings of connection & celebration are on display as brightly coloured irregular shapes dance & swirl into each other, like joyful memories or people coming together for singular purpose.

Paul Gravett is an abstract photo based artist whose experimental work explores the intersections of photography & contemporary art. The works in his Colour Study series originate with photographs of papers & films in a particular colour family or relationship, layered on a stack of glass shelves. Each layer is photographed in focus as the others fall outside of the field of focus. The images are layered & blended to create vivid yet soft abstractions that reference contemporary art, including pointillism, colour fields, collage, & textures. Gravett's experimental technique remains true to the original photographs as nothing is added or subtracted in the process - everything that makes up the final image originates from the original set of photographs.
