Therese Joseph

Lynn Li

Zimu Li

Each of us is on a journey to find harmony - within ourselves, with the world around us, within our work, with nature.

Therese Joseph is a North Vancouver based artist, enamoured with the hidden beauty of the ordinary. She has always been captivated by feathers - their appearance, function & structure. This passion inspired her current series of acrylic & mixed media paintings in which she designed feathers in a striking spectrum of colours, shapes & patterns. On this journey, Joseph began to see feathers as a metaphor for humanity. Each feather is uniquely crafted & beautifully distinct, much like people, with its own role & purpose. When feathers work together in harmony, they can glide effortlessly across the sky. Joseph shows us that if feathers can achieve such unity & grace, perhaps we should try harder find our own harmony in ourselves & communities to reach our fullest potential.

Lynn Li is an artist from North Vancouver who aims to capture the essence & beauty of the natural world. She has a particular interest in intricate details, nuances & personalities of birds & small animals. Trained in traditional Chinese brush painting, her work is characterized by a harmonious use of colour, delicate brushstrokes & sparse layouts. Li's thoughtful compositions offer us an unfettered view of her subjects, inviting connection & a sense of unity with nature & the human spirit. Whether it's the chirping of sparrows perched on branches or the graceful dance of butterflies, her paintings serve as a testament to the awe-inspiring beauty of the world around us.

Zimu Li is a Richmond based Chinese-Canadian artist whose work blends the traditional techniques of Chinese painting with contemporary visual art practices. Her work often explores the symbolism of animals, with the deer as a recurring motif, who in Chinese culture symbolizes purity, grace & longevity. Li's current series seeks to find balance amongst intersecting elements: nature & the celestial, where mythological symbols & natural forms converge; tradition & contemporary practices, the use of xuan paper & natural pigments with abstract forms & contemporary colour palettes; her own journey navigating the cultural landscapes of China & Canada. Through these paintings, she aims to create a space where viewers can pause to reflect on their own connections to nature, spirituality & the world around us.
