Luke Welch

Award-winning Toronto pianist Luke Welch returns to the Silk Purse for a thrilling concert on his national tour.

Welch has performed as a soloist extensively across Canada, the US, Europe & New Zealand. He is also a sought after interdisciplinary collaborative pianist, having worked with the Royal Conservatory of the Hague, the National Ballet of Canada & more. 

Today, Welch performs an exciting program of works by iconic Canadian-born composer R. Nathaniel Dett, with his signature energy & virtuosity.

Welch is kicking off his national album release tour to promote his critically acclaimed recording ‘Northern Magnolias’ on which he performs music by Dett, highlighting the composer’s balance of musical ingenuity & brilliance, while bringing to prominence an artist who represented the next generation of Black classical musicians & composers of the early 20th century.

Welch will perform at 10:30 am & 1:30 pm.
